Esta vez fui yo la entrevistada en 5.6.7.eight [Episode 39] por Aleksandra Efimova y aunque prefiero no escucharme -puf- me ha gustado leer algunas frases que han destacado porque reflejan a mis maestros dentro y fuera de la sala de ensayo . Al final, uno se convierte en aquellos de los que se rodea.
‘Pasamos tanto tiempo delante del espejo trabajando… pero hay vida más allá de las piruetas. Hay vida más allá de los espejos. Sal y piensa, habla con la gente e intercambia ideas. Porque de eso es de lo que está hecha la danza de hoy.’
‘Creo que el ballet es el mejor entrenamiento para cualquier bailarín de cualquier especialidad.’
‘A veces la vida te dirige en la dirección correcta. Y a veces no nos enteramos hasta que han pasado los años.’
‘Me gusta escribir. Me gusta la investigación que tienes que hacer antes de ponerte a escribir. Y creo que mi trabajo como Maestra de Ballet ha mejorado gracias a mis investigaciones.’
‘Creo que es importante cometer errores en la vida. Hay que arriesgar.’
‘Ser bailarín en mi compañía [BNE] requiere un entrenamiento muy duro, pero, como todo, si empiezas de pequeño puedes lograrlo.’
[Sobre cómo mantener la frescura de las clases] ‘No hay ninguna seguridad de que yo pueda estar aquí mañana dando clase. Así que da la clase de hoy como si fuera la última. Y tienes que estar satisfecho de tu última clase.’

This time I was the one being interviewed at 5.6.7.eight [Episode 39] by Aleksandra Efimova and although I prefer not to listen to myself -yuck- I liked to read some of the “moving quotes” the editor highlighted because they represented my teachers, in and out of the studio. With the years, one becomes the people you have around.
“We spend so much time in front of the mirror practicing our form. But there is life behind turns. There is life beyond the mirror. So go and think and talk to people and exchange ideas. Learn new styles and talk to other artists. Because all of that made dance what it is today.”
“I think that ballet training is the best training for any dancer from any kind of dance.”
“Sometimes life directs you in the right way. And sometimes we don’t realize until years past.”
“I like writing. I like the research that you have to do prior to writing. And I feel that my work as a ballet mistress has improved a lot because of my research for writing.”
“I think it’s so important to make mistakes in life. We have to take risks.”
“Being a dancer in my company [BNE] involves really hard training, but, like everything, if you start when you’re little, you can manage.”
[On keeping her dance classes fresh] “There is no guarantee that I’ll be here tomorrow teaching class. So, teach today like this is going to be your last class. And you have to be proud of your last class.”
