Day 56_Anthony Dowell

Contenido, elegante, discreto y demoledor.
Viva Dowell. Sir Anthony Dowell.

[People of the world, the Coronavirus has locked us up. But not only will it not be able to take us, but we will make the most of the lockdown. Here’s my idea for the day.]

Kenneth MacMillan was an expert in choreographing passionate duos and self-contained solos, like this one from Manon. As a young girl I would have given anything to be Jennifer Penney and have something like this danced for me. When I grew up I would give anything to one day behave like Anthony Dowell. That’s my type.
Contained, elegant, discreet and devastating. I’m not interested in people who constantly mess up their hair and scream, whether on the street or on stage.
Dowell sums up everything I admire and represents what barely exists anymore. Long live Dowell. Sir Anthony Dowell.
