Day 27_Mats Ek

[Gentes del mundo, el coronavirus nos ha encerrado. Pero no sólo no podrá con nosotros, sino que vamos a aprovechar el encierro al máximo. Aquí va mi idea del día.]

Ahora que gran parte de la población vive atornillada al sofá y a sus televisores, vuelvo al solo con el que Mats Ek abre su ballet The Apartment, que en su versión corta, el coreógrafo tituló Casi-Casa. Humor fino “made-in-Suecia”.
Cuando vi a Ek mostrar los pasos de este solo en la sala de ensayo, entendí todo. Por qué cada movimiento era de esa determinada manera, y no de otra. Y ahora, viendo de nuevo a José Carlos Martínez bailándolo, recupero el recuerdo de sus pasos y sus palabras.
Este solo es una crítica feroz a nuestra sociedad. A lo que esconden las casas y a las vidas maquilladas que se proyectan fuera de ellas. Ay, las paparruchas televisivas.

Now that a large part of the population lives fastened to the sofa and their televisions, I return to the solo with which Mats Ek starts his ballet The Apartment, which in its short version, the choreographer called Casi-Casa. Exquisite “made-in-Sweden” humour.
When I saw Ek show the steps of this solo in the studio, I understood everything. Why every movement was that particular way, and no other. And now, seeing José Carlos Martínez dancing it again, his steps and his words get back to me.
This solo is a fierce criticism towards our society. To what is hidden in our homes and the false lives that are projected away. Oh, those fake-news.
