Day 48_Jumping Boy

[Gentes del mundo, el coronavirus nos ha encerrado. Pero no sólo no podrá con nosotros, sino que vamos a aprovechar el encierro al máximo. Aquí va mi idea del día.]

Circula desde hace días por las redes un video de un chaval practicando un ejercicio de saltos pequeños grabado por sus hermanos detrás de la casa donde viven en Gugulethu,  Sudáfrica.
Arlene Westergaard fundó la Zama Dance School, donde estudia ballet el niño saltarín, en 1984. Ella no sólo dejó su vida para enseñar ballet a niños como él; vendió su casa para subsistir y preparó a la mujer que todavía hoy se encarga de recibir a padres y alumnos en la escuela, además de asegurarse de que los chicos llegan sanos y salvos a sus casas después de sus actividades.  Westergaard también consiguió que les dejasen una iglesia para impartir sus clases. Cuando las barricadas y el gas lacrimógeno no les dejaban llegar a su  iglesia/escuela, Westergaard se reunía con los alumnos en la esquina de un parque para impartir las clases de ballet.
Antes de su aventura, esta valerosa mujer trabajaba en un banco y como mecanógrafa en una empresa ferroviaria.

[People of the world, the Coronavirus has locked us up. But not only will it not be able to take us, but we will make the most of the lockdown. Here’s my idea for the day.]

For days now, a video has been circulating in the internet showing a young boy practicing a small jumps combination filmed by his brothers in the back of the house where they live in Gugulethu, South Africa.
Arlene Westergaard founded the Zama Dance School, where the jumping boy studies ballet, in 1984. Not only did she leave her life to teach ballet to children like him, she sold her house to support herself and taught the woman who still welcomes parents and students at the school and makes sure that the children arrive home safe and sound after their dance activities.  Westergaard also managed to get a church where she could teach. When barricades and tear gas prevented them from reaching their church/school, Westergaard would meet the students at the corner of a park to teach ballet. 
Before her adventure, this courageous woman worked in a bank and as a typist in a railway company.
