Day 44_Alvin Ailey

“Fix me Jesus / Fix me for my Long White Robes / Fix me for my Sorry Soul / Fix me for my Dying Breath / Fix me for my Daily Love.”
Tremendas palabras. Bailarines valientes.

[People of the world, the Coronavirus has locked us up. But not only will it not be able to take us, but we will make the most of the lockdown. Here’s my idea for the day.]

I admire the arms of Alvin Ailey’s dancers. Halfway between the academic, the expressive and the geometric.
“Fix me Jesus”, from the famous ballet Revelations, is one of those duets that not just anyone can dance; it needs the intensity and poetry necessary to turn technique into a tool that gives form to words.
“Fix me Jesus / Fix me for my Long White Robes / Fix me for my Sorry Soul / Fix me for my Dying Breath / Fix me for my Daily Love.”
Tremendous words. Brave dancers.
