Day 65_Beatrix Potter

[People of the world, the Coronavirus has locked us up. But not only will it not be able to take us, but we will make the most of the lockdown. Here’s my idea for the day.]

How hard Noverre fought to take off our masks, and how right Frederick Ashton was to put them on his dancers for this ballet.
The Tales of Beatrix Potter is one of his most popular ballets; it was created for the cinema and years later brought to the stage by Anthony Dowell, who adapted the choreography to a new format.
The difficulty of dancing in such spectacular but, I imagine, terribly uncomfortable costumes does not lessen the expressivity of each scene. If, in addition, you have read the famous stories and you know the history of each character, the ballet is extremely funny.
